365-77 to 365-83 A Week in Pictures

We had a slightly busier week, although illness is still firmly imprinted on our household. Nonetheless, a visit to the in-laws in Somerset, a quick stop-in at a local art gallery, a trial day in cloth nappies and a product launch for shoes to make you skinny while eating cupcakes made it all pass really quckly.

Adventures in Cloth Nappies – Part 1

The mere thought of cloth nappies fills my nostrils with the smell of wet-pailed nappies soaking in antibacterial water and concrete back yards filled with large white terry squares flapping in the wind. Whether those are my own memories or Hollywood inspired daydreams, I may never know, but I’m pretty certain I’m not alone in my misconception.

Just Have to Share – Easter Egg Nests

These are really simple, easy and quick to do. With a little supervision, these are great to do with toddlers too.

Last year I wedged a name card between the two eggs in the nest for Easter Sunday lunch place settings and they served as lovely table decoration tooas well as  an after desert snack.

Said the Bitch to the Cow

As a species, women are quite hard to understand. There, I said it.

We fill the complete spectrum with our differences, yet at our basic core, we are not all that dissimilar. We all have basic needs of love, acceptance, belonging and so on.

Why, then, do we bash each other, berate each other’s viewpoints and pile on guilt where extra isn’t needed?

365-70 to 365-76 A Week in Pictures

I seem to be saying that I’ve had a dull week quite a lot lately, yet when I look at the pictures, there always seems to be things happening in my life. Although we’ve been overwhelmed by the world’s worst case of ‘teething baby’, and fevers and stomach bugs in all three of us, we do still seem to find time and energy for the act of living.

A Sling is a Wonderful Thing

Before I became pregnant, I had never given a moment’s thought to the transportation of babies. They go in push chairs, and that’s where they go. Or so I thought.  It was only on walking into a popular baby shop that I became aware of the range of options, and found that none were going to work for us.

Not only would it be impossible to get most of the tank-with-tractor-wheel travel systems up our staircase (we live on the first floor), but we didn’t have anywhere to store it even if we could. And that’s assuming we could even afford one in the first place.

Out the Box – Carrot and Clementine Soup

As the winter days fade into spring, we have a few final opportunities for thick and healthy soups.

I tried this soup because I happened to have all the ingredients from my Abel and Cole veggie box and was absolutely stunned by it. Utterly delicious.  I do suggest you try it!

If the Shoe Fits

I’ve never been a normal girl. No really. I can prove it in one sentence. Here it is: I don’t like shoe shopping. I know. Shock, horror.

We’ve had a decidedly uneventful week here. Apart from one or two good moments. Not sure what’s going round. Guess we are just waiting for spring.

Celebrating the Launch of Sousette

Love them or hate them, baby showers are on the rise in the UK. Although they’ve been a tradition in countries such as the US, South Africa and Australia for many years, here they tend to have an aura of superstition surrounding them. Many people still don’t believe they should deliberately do anything to actively prepare for their baby’s imminent arrival, just in case. However, maybe because of the influx of foreigners all over Britain, more and more people are having baby showers these days.
