Friday Favourites – If Dads Are Irrelevant Moms Are To Blame

I have a massive amount of respect for Annie, from PHD in Parenting. She’s an incredible activist and a parenting “guru” I’m actually willing to listen to, because for a start, she actually has children. I very nearly met her in Germany last year and I’m still disappointed that we didn’t make it to Berlin… more

A Reader Asks – Tips For Travelling With A Baby

You had done so much traveling with your daughter by the time she was 12 months old I am wondering if you have time to share any advice with me? (Jane no longer co-sleeps, but still breastfeeds her 10 month old who does not use a pacifier.) We are planning on traveling to London from… more

Pic Of The Week 52-16

Just back from six months abroad, we felt it was time for a holiday – well, actually, we decided the inlaws really needed a visit, or they’d not recognise Ameli when they saw her again. So, off we went to Somerset for two weeks. Ameli and I did a lot of foraging, exploring and visiting… more

Smartening Up To Marketing Psychology

Have you ever walked into a shop to buy something, and walked out with a whole bunch of stuff you didn’t go in for? Or go out for a quiet drink, only to end up way drunker than you planned? Why does that happen? Well, the simple answer is this: everyone wants your money and… more

Natracare New Mum/Baby Set Giveaway

Okay. Herewith follows a disclaimer: This post may be a little OTT. If you’re a male friend, or my dad, stop reading. Come back tomorrow. This is girl talk. For those of you still here, welcome! Foraging for Food – Ramson (Wild Garlic) And Ricotta Gnocchi

Wild garlic is simply delicious stuff. In the spring it has a much milder taste than late in the summer, and unlike it’s commercial counterpart, you eat the leaves and the flowers, not the bulb (although you could). more

Things To Do In Pretoria, South Africa

While this post might be irrelevant to most of my readers, I’m sure you’ll agree that experience counts for a lot and by now you know how I love to share what I’ve learned!  So… should you ever find yourself in Pretoria or Johannesburg, or the rest of South Africa, for that matter, I hope… more

Friday Favourites – 7 Resolutions For Baby Number Two

Every now and then, Mr. Husband makes a comment about it being time for #2. Baby, that is. We’re not that kind of couple.  He’ll say something about a sibling for Ameli. Or make a comment about wanting another baby. Or something undisguised like that. And while I applaud his openness, willingness and all that,… more

Setting Up A Toddler Room

Well, from the back of the room somewhere, I can just about hear a voice going, “So what’s the big deal? It’s not like you’ve never done this before!” And that would be rather the point. We have never done this before. We did try to set up a nursery. I painted Peter Pan pictures,… more

Pic Of The Week 52-15

Well, I’m guessing this is all types of illegal, and if you don’t hear from me again – I may be in prison. But hopefully not. Ameli and I were invited to watch the preview of the new Winnie the Pooh movie in Leicester Square last week. There was no red carpet and there were… more

Well, I’m guessing this is all types of illegal, and if you don’t hear from me again – I may be in prison. But hopefully not.

Ameli and I were invited to watch the preview of the new Winnie the Pooh movie in Leicester Square last week. There was no red carpet and there were no celebrities, but, you know, it was pretty cool anyway.

Actually, it was better than that. It was one of the best versions of Winnie the Pooh I have ever seen. It was so beautifully done, the animation, the story, the characters – my absolute favourite thing was how the characters sometimes ‘strolled’ through the book. See the picture I risked my freedom to show you?*
