Mamatography Week 2 : Life At Home, Mainly

It’s week two of Mamatography, and it’s been half a very quiet week and then as everything ‘started back’ after the holidays, it’s become insanely busy!

I’m Not Trying For A Homebirth, I’m Having One

Have you ever run a marathon? How about a 10k run- fun runs, as they’re sometimes called, although I can’t imagine why?!  I’ve run a few 10k runs (about 6 miles) in my lifetime, and have the medals somewhere to prove it. For some I’ve trained, I’ve been healthy, I’ve been in the right frame…

BoobieMilk Bras Competition

I have under-estimated the value of a decent bra for most of my adult life. I love pretty underwear. There’s something feminine about it. It makes me feel good… I like it – I just never thought it was a worthwhile investment.  Until I had my first bra-fitting for a decent bra: one that doesn’t…

Mommy I’m Here Child Locator Competition (UK Only)

This is just a quickie competition for you, because I need you to do something for a friend of mine. Have you ever ‘lost’ your child?

What do you do with whey once you’ve made yoghurt or cheese? Here are a list of options from around the web

Friday Features: ‘Pineapples And Artichokes’ And ‘The Mahogany Way’

Pineapples and Artichokes is a warm and loving blog, written by Shannon, mother to Moira and Davis. Shannon writes in very much the way I tend to think: with a steady stream of consciousness and deep introspection. She turns it into a narrative of her children though, and is – to my mind at least…

Time-In As An Alternative To Time-Out

We’ve all heard of time outs, right? The naughty step? It’s the super nannies’ (who often have no children of their own and so can’t comprehend the emotional aspect that comes with disciplining a child) control tool of choice. But it’s not one I myself like. Seeing, or worse, putting my child in distress tightens…

Mamatography: Week 1

It’s a new year and a new photo challenge. I have been moaning far and wide about my camera being broken, and the fact that I’m using an old camera I’d given to Ameli to play with as my main camera again, with my BlackBerry for a back-up. Rather sad, no? Anyway – it’s about…

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle : 5-5-5 Things A Day

I’m not sure where exactly this fits into Natural Parenting, but I’m pretty sure that my Experiment in Natural Family Living this month must fall in a category somewhere: Decluttering. I’m pretty sure that having a decluttered home can only lead to a more peaceful mind, a gentler existence and a happier living space, so…

Sea-Band is a drug-free nausea, motion sickness and morning sickness relief band for adults and children. Sea-Band is a drug-free nausea, motion sickness and morning sickness relief band for adults and children.

When I was pregnant with Ameli, I tried pretty much everything on the market to deal with the sickness my doctor kept telling me was in my head. For the first few weeks I can honestly say that I did find some temporary relief from nausea, at times, with the use of Sea-Bands. Of course, once morning sickness turned into Hyperemesis Gravidarum, there was nothing in the world that could help, until I was eventually hospitalised. (more…)
